Global Youth Day 2025
Mar 15, 2025
Summary
As we wrap up a blessed and action-packed first quarter, we reflect on 13 Sabbaths and a productive time together. This issue focuses on the exciting Global Youth Day (GYD) outreach program, highlighting the planning that led up to the big day.
Prep: Set the Stage for People
In February, the Tshedza Midrand SDA Church began preparing for GYD by forming three committees: one for the week of prayer sermons, one for branding (hello, t-shirts!), and another to organize the GYD program itself. The youth department led these efforts, with invaluable support from Adventist Community Services, Adventist Men’s Organization, and Health and Personal Ministries, ensuring collaboration across all church departments.
Outreach Activities
On GYD, the church divided into two groups to serve at distribution sites in Noordwyk and Vorna Valley. Health screenings were provided at both sites, and the outreach brought joy to many as food and clothing parcels were distributed. Remaining items will be used in the next outreach event, and the church is already planning more frequent and larger outreach initiatives.
At Vorna Valley, the church focused on health and wellness, offering free health screenings to the community. Volunteers provided blood pressure checks, diabetes testing, and general health advice. Alongside the screenings, youth distributed food parcels and clothing, ensuring that those in need received essential support.
In Noordwyk, the team engaged in direct community service, delivering food hampers and clothing donations to struggling families. The volunteers spent time praying with residents, sharing words of encouragement, and spreading the love of Christ. The outreach was met with joy and gratitude, strengthening the church’s bond with the community.
